Following her success at the 17th International Istanbul Theatre Festival with the dance piece To dance or...Turkish choreographer Ayrin Ersöz pays a visit to the Ballhaus as part of the project in/out dance series curated by Wagner Carvalho. Her latest piece interprets parts of the novel Köçek İbo (Bellydancer İbo) by Turkish author Reşad Ekrem Koçu and explores elements of Turkish history and traditional gender roles in the form of dance.

The dancer and choreographer Ayrin Ersöz is based in Istanbul and head of the Faculty of Dance at Yıldız Technical University. Her interdisciplinary work combines dance with interactive media and live music. She has also danced with the CRR Dance Company and the Istanbul Dance Theatre.

To dance or... continues the Ballhaus Naunynstraße cooperation with Wagner Carvalho, curator and initiator of project in/out. The focus of the series is on forms of narration and expression that go beyond the established norms of the art industry and broaden our imaginal horizon.
