A performance by Tatiana and Tamara Saphir
23–25 June 2010 at 10:00 pm – English and German language

Brief History is an "educational" evening about music and a collage of fascinating little stories. A collapsing conference and a theatrical exploration of the reception, production and reproduction of punk in the deep south.

Tatiana Saphir & Co. take us on a journey to the heart of the punk movement in Buenos Aires, debating on the curious fate of a subculture that was imported into the country in the late 1980s in the aftermath of a bloody dictatorship and the young democracy’s enthusiastic appropriation of punk. In a true punk trash style, the show probes the aesthetic codes of academia and the absurd theatricality of university events.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF ARGENTINIAN PUNK

This conference is as if a malicious spirit or a sleepy student‘s imagination projected on stage a hallucinated materialization of flesh and blood images of what is being told, discussed and explained.

Tatiana Saphir is from Buenos Aires, where she studied Drama, Theatre and Dance. She has cooperated with various Berlin ensembles since 2002. Tamara Saphir is also from Buenos Aires and has pursued a career in dance since early childhood. She lives and works in Paris and most recently in Berlin.
